TIME-SERT 1485 M14x1.5 Steel Oil Pan Thread Repair for Drain Plug

This thread repair kit is for steel oil pans only, NOT aluminum. This is for oil pans that have an original oil drain plug size of 14 x 1.5 mm. After the repair a 12 x 1.5 millimeter drain plug will be used. This kit reduces the drain plug hole size in the oil pan from 14 x 1.5 to 12 x 1.5. The reason this is done is the steel pans cannot be drilled like aluminum oil pans. Steel pans typically do not have enough material for drilling, then tapping and installing an insert large enough to accommodate the original size drain plug. This is the reason there is no drill bit in the kit.

* Note that this kit will NOT repair over-sized drain plug holes. Also, a replacement 12 x 1.5 mm drain plug will be needed from a local parts store once the repair insert has been installed.
