Simple, the Time Sert thread repair system is made in the USA, uses a solid bushing type insert and locks in place from the bottom instead of the top or by spring action. Cadillac’s like many other cars today use aluminum for their blocks. While this is a great way to reduce the over-all weight of a car, the aluminum threads which are under a lot of stress from torque, heat and time under load, simply are not as strong as carbon steel, Time Sert uses carbon steel inserts which are much stronger than the original aluminum threads ever were.
