TIME SERT 4412E First Time Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit M14x1.25 millimeter standard length. If longer tooling is not needed, use 4412. The "E" stands for extended. Please note *Inserts sold separately because the 4412E is used for multiple engine sizes which use different seat types and lengths. This kit is considered "Over the fender" you DO NOT have to remove the head. Metal shavings in cylinder may damage the engine - see instructions and video for more information. Time Sert is recommended by leading automobile manufacturers. *Loctite sealer is required for all taper seat inserts. The CAL389-4000 may be purchased separately to help determine the valves are closed before proceeding.

Question: Are these tools warrantied against breakage? I broke the seat cutter, why would it have broken?

Answer: Time Sert tools are designed and manufactured in the USA and are very good quality; however they do not come with a replacement warranty due to the nature of the tools. As with any type drill bits and taps, the industry standard is "no warranty" due to the tooling being considered consumable. Also, breaking can occur if the tools are dropped or used improperly. The break in the image above most likely was caused by the wrench not being placed down fully into the top of the seat cutter. See the gap? This is NOT fully engaged.


The top part of the recess in the seat cutter is thin, however when fully engaged the wrench is placed into the thickest strongest part of the slotted area. See below.


 When the wrench is in place properly and engaged fully there will be no space showing. The wrench is fully in the slot. See the image below.
Question: I have a broken seat cutter, but it's broken on the other end. The cutting blade broke. What caused the problem?
Answer: A broken cutting blade on the seat cutter is most likely caused by the tap not being in the correct depth. For other's doing this job, pay special attention to step number two in the instructions, keeping the tap's cutting edges 1/4" below the surface and this will not be an issue. pdficon-small.png Printable Instructions for Time-Sert 4412E
Notice that, if the tap (which also acts as a guide for the seat cutter) is not down far enough, the cutting blades may catch the top threads of the tap and cause breakage.

Insert 44186 is for many Domestic engines with 3/4 reach TAPER SEAT spark plugs. 

Insert 44187 is for Ford some 2.0L and many 5.0 engines with 24mm reach TAPER SEAT spark plugs. Ford 2018-2021 Mustangs and 2015-2021 F150 use the M12x1.25 24mm length. If working on M12x1.25 see the 4212H kit.  

Insert 44111 is for many Foreign engines with 3/4 reach WASHER SEAT spark plugs.

    It’s just been a few days since I did the spark plug thread replacement but all seemed to go well so far. Very nice kit I’m pleased at the choice I made.

    Would have given 5 stars but no inserts were included. A variety of inserts wouldn't have been too hard or expensive to include. The kit works great though. The extension wrench reached down the recess easily.
